2. Important note for Record 1 users

If you have Record version 1 installed already, please consider the following before installing Record version 1.5:

If you are upgrading to version 1.5

Before you install Record, it is recommended that you uninstall the previous version.

If you want to test version 1.5 in Demo Mode, and keep version 1 installed

The Record 1.5 installer normally overwrites the existing Record application folder.

- To avoid this, you can rename the current Record application folder before proceeding with the installation.

- You might also want to make a copy of your current Record 1 preferences as these will be updated to the new format when you run Record 1.5. You find the preferences file at

C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Propellerhead Software\Record\Record Preferences.prf (Windows XP)

or

C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Propellerhead Software\Record\Record Preferences.prf (Windows Vista and Windows 7)

Record version 1.5 also updates the default template song files.

If you stop using the demo and go back to Record version 1, you should therefore uninstall Record 1.5, since this also deletes the Template Songs folder. After uninstalling, run Record version 1 again to restore the default template songs in the correct format.

3. What's new in version 1.5.1?

Version 1.5.1 is a maintenance release, fixing various issues in Record 1.5. For details, please refer to the fix list on the Record 1.5.1 download page at the Propellerhead web site.

The features that were added in version 1.5 are described in a separate What's New pdf document, found in the Documentation folder within the program folder.

4. Authorized mode and Demo mode

To run Record in Authorized mode, you need to have your Ignition Key inserted into the computer's USB port. Alternatively, you can use Internet Authorization (requires a working internet connection).

The first time you run Record in Authorized mode you need to register your Record license on your Propellerhead user account and authorize your Ignition Key. To do this, just launch Record, select "Register and Authorize" and follow the instructions.

It is also possible to run Record without Ignition Key or Internet Authorization. The program will then go into Demo mode. In this mode, you can work as usual, without time restrictions - record, edit, mix and even save your work.

However, you cannot open songs in Demo mode. To be able to open songs, you need to run Record in Authorized mode.

5. Using Record with Reason

If you have Reason version 5 registered and installed on your computer, all Reason devices will automatically be available within Record. It will also be possible to open Reason documents directly in Record.

Note that Reason version 5 is required - Record version 1.5 will not integrate with Reason version 4.

If you have the demo version of Reason installed, you cannot use this in combination with Record in Authorized mode.

However, it is possible to run Record in Demo mode together with the demo version of Reason - just restart Record without the Ignition Key inserted. In Demo mode, you can save your work as usual but only demo songs (extension ".recdemo") can be opened.
