Cheng Shin Tires (CST) was founded in
1967, and has since produced billions of
high-quality tires distributed around the

its plant in Xiamen, China, producing

TIRE SAFETY
•
Consult your owner’s manual for specific tire information.
•
Check to ensure the beads of the tires are fully and evenly
seated around the entire circumference of the rims before
every ride.
•
Clearance around tires must be maintained. Increasing tire size
may require an increased rim width. Inspect tires closely for
sufficient clearance.
•
After replacing worn tires, take time to become acquainted with
the handling and performance of your new tires.
•
Always wear protective eyewear when installing inner tubes
or tires.
•
Do not cut, sipe or otherwise modify your tires.
•
You should check the condition of your inner tubes on a regular
basis.
•
Check your wheel assembly for trueness and even spoke tension
before use and each time the tire is removed or replaced.
•
When replacing tires, be sure to also replace the inner tubes.
Stretched inner tubes can crease and fail due to thinning of the
inner tube rubber.
•
Check for broken or damaged spokes and replace as necessary.
•
Replace bent or damaged rims or wheels immediately.
•
Consult your bicycle dealer for correct rim strip replacement.
•
Do not use liquid sealants.
•
Make sure your inner tube size markings match the tire size.
•
Tube-type tires should only be used in conjunction with an inner
tube on an approved rim.
•
Use tire only for designated terrain, on an appropriate bicycle
and using proper safety equipment at all times.
•
Store your tires in a safe place at a constant temperature.
•
Follow tire pressure guidelines located on your tire.
•
Do not store tires in direct sunlight for extended periods of
time.
•
Check tire pressure before every ride.
•
Allowing tires to stand in oil, gasoline or other chemicals may
have an adverse affect on the rubber compounds of the tire.
•
Check your valve cores for damage. If valve cores are damaged,
replace them.
•
Failure to follow these guidelines can result in accelerated tread
wear and may cause catastrophic tire failure.
•
Check your tires for damage before and after riding. Punctured,
cracked, bulging or blistered tires should be replaced immediately.
If not replaced, damage can result in sudden and complete tire
failure.

TIRE CONSTRUCTION
SINGLE PLY CASING
With one layer of nylon wrapped from bead to bead, a single ply
conforms well to the terrain and offers a reasonable weight.
THREADS PER INCH
The number of nylon threads that cross through one square inch
of the tire’s casing. Lower TPI provides improved puncture and tear
resistance, but also increases the overall weight of the tire. Higher
TPI conforms more to the terrain, offering a smoother, more supple
ride and offers a lighter weight construction.
WIRE BEAD
A sturdy material is needed to hold the tire against the rim when
inflated. Wire is used to ensure the bead will not expand, but wire
is also heavier.
CST TPI ratings are the threads-per-inch of a single ply casing, as
compared to some competitor TPI ratings.
FOLDABLE BEAD
A foldable bead also stays tight to the rim but is lighter weight
and easier to transport than a wire bead. The bead is created of
an Aramid or kevlar
®
material.

TUBELESS
The rubber compound enhances the general performance
of a tire, providing greater riding advantage. CST offers two
compound formula options - single and dual.
UNIVERSAL SYSTEM TUBELESS
A UST tire has a bead profile designed
to be compatible with UST specific rims.
UST tires use a butyl inner liner to
eliminate the need for a tube.
SINGLE
One compound throughout

PUNCTURE PROTECTION
HIGH PROTECTION
High Protection consists of an extra-thick 5mm layer of rubber
between the tread and the casing. Since the rubber has a strong
rebound characteristic, debris is more likely to exit the tire than to
continue through and cause damage.
NYLON CAP
Nylon Cap features a thin 0.5mm rubber coated fabric positioned
within the casing to provide an acceptable level of puncture
resistance. Nylon Cap technology protects the tire from bead to
bead, and is used along with EPS puncture protection technology
for maximum protection.
EPS
Exceptional Puncture Safety offers an added layer of proprietary
rubberized poly-fiber material between the tread and the casing.
The tight weave of this lightweight, puncture-resistant layer
prevents foreign objects from penetrating the casing and
damaging the tube.
kEVLAR
®
INSIDE
kevlar® Inside incorporates kevlar® fibers into a 1.5mm layer of
natural rubber between the tread and the casing. These fibers
resist cuts and tears from road debris, while the extra rubber
keeps sharp objects from traveling through to penetrate the tire.
3MM LDP
3MM LDP consists of an extra-thick 3mm layer of rubber between
the tread and the casing. Since the rubber has a strong rebound
characteristic, debris is more likely to exit the tire than to continue
through and cause damage.
APL ANTI-PUNCTURE
APL Anti-Puncture features a respectable 0.7mm layer of rubber
between the tread and the casing. This additional rubber layer
assists in preventing penetration through the tire.
