SMB Storage Facts
•
85% of SMBs are still using DAS; 25% of SMBs'
storage infrastructures are 100% DAS.
•
45% of SMBs have deployed NAS; those
companies are using it for 45% of their total disk
storage.
•
The primary functions being server by NAS
storage in SMBs is as add-on storage for file
servers and for disk-to-disk backup or archiving.
•
30% of midsize businesses (only 10% of small
businesses) have deployed a FC SAN; 12% of
SMBs have deployed an iSCSI SAN; the
companies with a SAN are using it for 40% of
their total disk storage.

SMBs expect their storage capacity to increase
by approximately 30% in 2007.

>70% of SMBs continue to back up data to an
on-site local device.

>35% of SMBs are using backup to disk and
replication as their primary backup method.

Remote replication will continue to be popular
for data protection.

Data protection has evolved into business
protection
•
Lost data means lost business: 50% of companies that lose
their data go out of business immediately, and 90% do not
survive for more than 2 years
