Navigating within SAP Manufacturing Execution (OPTIONAL)
This document is a reference guide for navigating within SAP Manufacturing
Execution.
The following topics are covered:

Activities Overview
The system is made up of a series of smaller applications, called activities.
Depending on your role in your manufacturing plant, you may use a variety of
system activities.
When you use the system, you can work with three main types of activities:
1.
Production activities
- Production operators, lead operators,
supervisors, and other shop floor personnel use production activities to
give the system precise information about the work they are performing.
The system feeds much of this information into reports for various level
managers so that they can make better decisions about the shop floor.
2.
Maintenance activities
- You use most maintenance activities primarily
during the time you are implementing the system on your shop floor.
Usually, you enter this information so that the system can use it to track
work during production or to create a report.
For example, you enter sets of information about the products you make
and the components you use to make them in Item Maintenance. You
enter information about your assembly lines in Operation Maintenance,
Resource Maintenance, Resource Type Maintenance and Router
Maintenance.
After rollout, you may use some maintenance activities for entering
additional information. For example, you may regularly change and add
parts, products, and BOMs.

Reports
- Reports allow you to see real-time production data.
Performance metrics in reports help you plan daily work to continuously
improve production. Most reports have input fields that allow you to
specify selection criteria.

The Activity Manager
A hyperlink within Production activities
A hyperlink within other reports
General Navigation
1. Browsing for Existing Values
The system displays browse icons after many fields. To use the browse icon,
do the following:
1. Select the browse icon, or click in, or tab to the field and press
F9
.
Result
: The system displays a list of all existing values for the field.
Note
: If the field already contains an existing value, the system displays only that
value in the list. Clear the field to display all values. To narrow the list, you can
enter one or more initial characters for the value. The system displays only the
values that begin with those characters.
2. In the list, select the row of the value you want.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and select
OK
.
Note
: You can also double-click the value you want in the list.
Result
: The system closes the browse window and displays the value you
selected in the field.
Note
: You can open only one browse window at a time.
