For most anyone running the original Starcraft in Windows 7, you are probably seeing inverted colors and similar glitching during cut scenes and the loading menus. I can't take credit for the following, but as there are a few threads about this issue, it seemed worth posting here.

Save one of the following to a text file, replace the ending (.txt) with .reg and merge it into your registry:

Windows 7 64 bit:

    Q u o t e:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw\Compatibility\Starcraft116]

    "Flags"=hex:00,08,00,00

    "Name"="Starcraft.exe"

    "ID"=hex:ca,89,65,49

Windows 7 32 bit:

    Q u o t e:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectDraw\Compatibility\Starcraft116]

    "Flags"=hex:00,08,00,00

    "Name"="Starcraft.exe"

    "ID"=hex:ca,89,65,49

And here is an explanation about the entire issue and the method used for resolving it:

Hopefully Blizzard can make a couple of .regs and leave them up to download from support, until/if there is another patch and this can be rolled into it.

As always, you'll want to be running Starcraft with Administrator privileges (right click Starcraft, select Properties, click the Compatability tab, turn on "Run as Administrator").
