INTRODUCTION
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the
night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and for years.-Genesis
I wanted to begin this introduction with a verse from the Bible that seems to strongly support
the idea that the arrangement of the planets is not a mere coincidence, but in fact, seems to be a
manifestation of an intelligent force that knows exactly where we came from and where we are
headed. I am not here to pretend that I understand this force in it’s entirety by any means. Still,
one does not have to adhere to any particular belief system on order to read and ponder the
above verse. Many courses of astrological study have a psychological focus only. While it is true
that astrology does in fact allow us to view the individual in this light only, I find it difficult to
ignore what I believe to be a kind of Divine Origin to this art.
Most astrologers are at least familiar with the idea of cause and effect (karma), as well as
reincarnatio n. These two idea s seem to fit so well wit h astrological princ iples.
Let me say here, that one does not have to believe in the laws of cause and effect or
reincarnation in order to learn the art of chart interpretation. You will find though, that this
course includes both the psychological application as well as the spiritual implications. I like
having choices and so I extend the same to you.
This course is founded on the idea of clear simplicity. I have purposely tried to simplify
explanations and keep elaborate theories to a minimum. If you are the type who enjoys reading
detailed explanations, there are more than enough books to give your mental processes lots of
technicalities to chew on. For myself though, I found that while fascinating to read, many of the
books I had purchased were too heavy on cookbook style interpretations, the authors personal
theories ( although you’ll find some of that in this course) and too light on clear explanations on
how to really apply all that wonderful knowledge to real life chart interpretation. I felt that there
was a kind of dire need for some kind of “package” that put it all together in an easy to refer to
format including simple explanations. Here it is! Astrological theories and specialized
techniques abound but, without the firm foundation that allows one to really grasp the basics , it
all begins to turn into mass confusion and the never-ending search for the perfect book that will
finally make sense of it all.
I believe that the material that you find in this course of study makes a sincere attempt to
deliver as promised. I have not written just another book on astrology that must conform to the
demands of a publishing house whose priorities center around selling more and more books. I
have prepared this material according to my own demands (and I can be pretty demanding of
myself) which center around a sincere desire to impart knowledge to you the student of
astro logy. To those of you wh o have been forme rly bit ten b y the as trolo gy bug and perha ps have
purchased countless books already, I believe that you will find this course a refreshing change!
After you have learned this material, you will be better able to understand some of the other
information that seemed so confusing contained within other sources you may have invested in.
This manual will attempt to simplify the process so that you can relax into expanding your
knowledge at your own pace. Here are some tips.
Don’t rush. If you don’t understand something, move on. Read another section-just for the
enjoyment of it. Give your subconscious mind a chance to work on it. This is an amazing but
simpl e lea rning t echn ique that works. Go over t he ma teri al ju st as t hough yo u were read ing a

book in order to fall asleep at bedtime. Put it all aside until you feel compelled to pick it up
again. Often you will find that you have a renewed ability to comprehend whatever seemed
difficult.
May I suggest that you print the pages out and put them into a ring binder. The ring binder
pages allow you to spread it out while you practice, which in my opinion is easier than trying to
fumble around holding a book open that is bound while you work. You can also add pages of
personal notes and information gleaned from other sources wherever you’d like them. There is
no 100 % complete book on astrology. While a certain level of precision is necessary to set up
the chart-the art of interpretation is really much looser than you might like. The section on math
at first glance may seem to contain much m ore information t han is containe d in other books.
How could this be easier?! I have included many reference tables which, as you progress will
come in very handily. The Report Outline is ready to copy and is a real plus in the beginning
when you need a solid framework as a starting point. I do not believe you will find anything like
it anywhere else. There are also chart forms which you may take to a printer and make copies of.
These are clearly marked with a permission statement from me.
I have kept explanations as simple as possible. I have attempted to condense definitions into
paragraphs that get to the point in as few words as possible. If you decide to take up this art
seriously you will no doubt have numerous other sources in your library which take certain
subjects into more depth.
The successful astrology buff or budding professional will find that eventually they must learn
to trust what they see and feel. If only it all was as simple as a do this, this and this and you are
an astrologer. I wish. On the other hand there is a wide berth and plenty of growing room in this
art allowing one to mold into it one’s own style based on personal preference and experience.
What I offer you here is the foundation and the materials with which to build your own “ house.”
There are a zillion styles of houses and yet they all are structured with certain basic building
materials. How’s that for an analogy? I hope it gives you a feel for the concept I’m trying to
