HEADLAMP AGLINMENT CORRECTOR - Description
All trim levels of the vehicle are equipped with GAS DISCHARGE dipped headlamps.
The lighting provided by this type of bulb is considerably greater than from conventional bulbs, in terms of both quality of light and size of
illuminated area.
The strong brightness produced by this type of headlamp requires the use of an automatic system to maintain a constant headlamp alignment and
avoid dazzling oncoming vehicles.
The automatic adjustment of the headlamps consists of:
front alignment sensor mounted on front left suspension
rear alignment sensor mounted on rear left suspension
a control unit located in each of the two headlamps
two actuators mounted on the front lights clusters
The left headlamp is the Master control unit while the right acts as a Slave unit.
The two control units download the dipped beam command, car speed and - to manage the function - signals from two sensors (potentiometric) on
the wheel axles that manage front and rear ride.Depending on the inputs, the control unit controls the appropriate adjustment actuator.
The supply for the headlamp control system is the same as for the dipped headlamps.
The circuit is supplied by a specific relay and protected by two fuses, one for the right headlamp and one for the left headlamp, located in the engine
compartment junction unit.

The dipped beam headlamps are controlled by electronic Check device M45 , which receives control signals from the switches and controls the bulbs
while also checking the various lines.
The supply for the Check device M45 arrives directly from the battery at pin 1 of connector C and 6 of connector E via fuses F17 and F15 of junction
unit B2 for the right and left branches of the lights, respectively.
The ignition-controlled supply (15/54) arrives via relay T1 and fuse F9 of junction unit B2 at pin 3 of connector B: pin 8 of connector C is earthed.
The dipped headlamps switch for the exterior lights control H6 sends the command from pin 8 of connector A to pin 15 of connector A of M45 when
the dipped headlamps are switched on.
In response to this signal, the Check device M45 controls the supply to the dipped beam headlamps from pin 7 of connector C: this signal energizes
the relay T2, located in the engine compartment junction unit B1 which supplies the headlamps F10 (left) and F11 (right). Each circuit is protected
by a junction unit B1 fuse: F15 for the left headlamp and F4 for the right one.
Lamps F10 and F11 as well as sensors K28 and K29 receive an ignition-operated supply (15/54) at pin 12 for the lamps and at pin 5 for the sensors
via the line protected by fuse F6 of junction unit B2.
The control unit for F10 and F11 receives output signals from pin 4 at pin 9 from sensors K28 and K29.
The control unit for F10 and F11 is also connected from pin 8 to socket R10 for the system fault diagnosis - pin 12
