[1] Using 1½ yd. (1.4m) of conditioned
thread (Basics, p. 156), pick up 12 11 0
seed beads. Sew through the first bead
again to form a ring, and leave an 8-in.
(20cm) tail.
[2] Pick up three 11 0 s, skip a bead, and
sew through the next bead on the ring
(figure 1, a–b) . Repeat around the ring,
adding a total of six three-bead sets
(b–c) . Sew through two beads on the
first set to step up (c–d) .
[3] Pick up three 11 0 s. Sew through the
bead your thread is exiting in the same
direction, and sew through the next
bead on the previous round (figure 2,
a–b) . Pick up five 11 0 s, and sew back
through the first bead picked up and
two beads of the next three-bead set
(b–c) . Repeat around the ring (c–d) . Step
up as shown (d–e) .
[4] Flip the beadwork so your thread is
exiting the right side of the 11 0 . Pick up
six 11 0 s and a crystal. Sew under the
thread bridge between the top two
beads on the next spike and back

[9] Pick up nine 11 0 s and a crystal. Sew
under the thread bridge between the top
two beads on the next spike, and back
through the crystal (b–c) .
[10] Pick up seven 11 0 s, and sew back
through the fourth 11 0 (c–d) . Pick up an
11 0 , and sew through the last two 11 0 s
on the previous loop (d–e) . Retrace the
thread path through the crystal, and go
through the next two 11 0 s (e–f) .
[11] Pick up eight 11 0 s, and sew
through the bead above the next crystal
(f–g) . Pick up four 11 0 s. Sew through the
eighth bead on the last loop, the 11 0
above the crystal, and the first 11 0 of
the new loop (g–h) .
[12] Repeat steps 9–11 four times (h–i) .
[13] Repeat steps 9 and 10 (i–j) . Pick
up seven 11 0 s, and sew through the 11 0 s
on the first loop (j–k) . Secure the threads
in the beadwork with a few half-hitch
knots (Basics) between beads, and trim.
[14] Dip the finished snowflake in
floor wax. Blot the excess wax with a
paper towel. Press the snowflake flat on
a piece of waxed paper, and let it dry. w
