Organize your gifts with style.
1. Select a 4-foot-tall ladder (#94570) .
2. Purchase two (6-foot-long) 1 x 12 boards, and cut
them into four pieces measuring 43, 33, 22 1 2 , and 13 1 2
inches. Cut a (6-foot-long) 1 x 2 board into three
pieces measuring 16 3 4 , 15 1 4 , and 13 3 4 inches. (A Lowe’s
employee can cut the boards for you; there’s no charge
for the first two cuts.)
3. Position the longest 1 x 2 opposite the bottom step to
serve as a support. Use a level to make sure it is even
with the step. With a 1 8 -inch bit, drill two pilot holes
through the ladder and into the board. Attach using
(#8 x 3 4 -inch) Phillips-head wood screws. Repeat for the
remaining supports.
4. Using the same bit, drill two pilot holes in each step
(about 5 inches in from each side) from underneath. Mask
the steps, braces, and spreaders with painter’s tape.
5. Lightly sand, and then prime the ladder and the
1 x 12 pieces; allow to dry. Apply two coats of paint;
we used Signature Colors by Valspar, Laura Ashley
Home, Apple 6 #LA1006, satin.
6. Center the shortest board on the top tray, and attach
it with two 3 4 -inch wood screws from underneath. Center
and attach the longest board to the bottom step in the
same way, and repeat with the remaining two boards, as
shown. Note: We didn’t attach the boards to the supports
so that the ladder can be disassembled and stored easily.

Trim a table with colorful presents.
1. Wrap boxes of various sizes with paintable wallpaper
(#136365) or contractor’s paper (#125855) , and secure
the paper using a hot-glue gun. With painter’s tape,
cover the areas you want to remain unpainted.
2. With a paintbrush and latex satin interior paint in
the colors of your choice, lightly brush the untaped
portion of each package; allow to dry.
3. Gently remove the painter’s tape. Arrange the boxes
on your dining table for a festive centerpiece.

Make guests feel extra special.
1. Select enough rosettes (found in the moulding
aisle) for the number of dinner guests. Using a small
hacksaw, cut a 1 4 -inch-deep slit across the corner of
each rosette. Lightly sand any rough edges.
2. Apply one or two coats of silver spray paint
(#62879) to each rosette, and allow to dry. Insert
a place card into each slit. Position a rosette on or
near each guest’s place setting.

Use rosemary for sweet decorations.
1. Cut three (54-inch) lengths of 18-gauge copper
wire (#62938) using utility scissors. Bend each length
into an 8-inch-diameter circle, looping the wire back
around itself to make the shape sturdy. Twist the wire
ends together to secure each circle.
2. Place the rings inside each other to form a sphere
as shown. Secure the circles at the top and the bottom
where they cross with small lengths of wire.
3. Twist rosemary sprigs around several 2- to 4-inch
wire pieces. Wrap these around the sphere’s wire,
overlapping the sprigs until the sphere is covered.
(You also can use mistletoe for this project.)
4. Using holiday ribbon, tie a bow at the top of the
ball, and hang from a chandelier or doorway.

1. Assemble a stackable shoe
organizer (#112756) per the
manufacturer’s instructions.
2. Select various house numbers
from 1 through 25, and attach
using a hot-glue gun. Or you can
paint some or all of the numbers,
and then allow to dry.
3. Fill the organizer with trinkets,
treats, and small gifts for each
day in December until Christmas.

1. Using utility scissors, cut a 6-inch length of
18-gauge copper wire (#62938) .
2. Twist and bend the wire into the desired shape
using needle-nose pliers. Clip off any excess wire.
Note: Flat designs with at least two loops work best
for holding several sheets of paper.
