manipulatenatureandproducenewknowledge.Inthisground-

shedemonstrateshowtheseplaysstagequestionsaboutwhether
womenhaveprivilegedaccesstonature’ssecretsandwhethertheir
bodiespossesshiddenoccultqualities.Discussingtherelationship
betweenscienti cdiscourseandtheoccult,shegoesontoargue
that,asexperientialevidencegainedscienti cground,women’spre-
sumedintimacywithnature’ssecretswaseitherdiminishedor
demonized.
